On the morning of March 8, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Shanghai Municipal Government and Shanghai Open University (SOU) signed a cooperation agreement regarding the establishment of the Overseas Chinese College of Shanghai (OCCS). The unveiling ceremony was held then.
YAO Zhuoyun, Associate Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, and ZHANG Jin, Vice President of SOU, signed the agreement. XU Li, Director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, and YUAN Wen, President of SOU, unveiled the plate and logo for OCCS together.
TANG Cuiying, Counsel of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, YANG Weiren, Director of the International Exchange Office of Shanghai Education Commission, leaders of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office from different districts of Shanghai, and the Head of Chinese Language Teaching Base of Shanghai, witnessed the signing process.
OCCS is established cooperatively by the local overseas Chinese affairs office and a higher education institution, which is the first try in China. It will integrate resource, help promote the development of the overseas Chinese affairs in Shanghai, meet the needs of overseas Chinese to achieve lifelong learning, improve the comprehensive service level of overseas Chinese affairs, and stimulate the development of a learning society in Shanghai by taking advantages of SOU’s education resources and its community college system.
