On December 4, 2020, “Online Education Development Forum in the Era of AI” was held in the Intelligent Learning Center of SOU. The forum was co-organized by the Engineering Technology Research Center of Open Distance Education of SOU, Shanghai Library and Shanghai Association for Artificial Intelligence Networking Systems of AI. The Survey Report on Post-epidemic Shanghai Online Learners’ Portraits’ was released at the forum.

The report is a phased research result of a national level project, which is jointly released by the Engineering Technology Research Center of Open Distance Education of SOU, Shanghai Library and Shanghai Association for Artificial Intelligence Networking Systems of AI. The report shows that the learning needs and willingness of Shanghai adult online learners are stable in the post-epidemic period, and they pay attention to the improvement of personal value when making longer-term plans. Dr. Xiao Jun said, based on the portrait analysis of Shanghai adult online learners, the online and offline integrated learning mode in the post-epidemic period will promote the inclusive, fair and ubiquitous development of lifelong learning, artificial intelligence, together with teachers and students, will build a learning community to promote the quality and optional development of learner-centered lifelong learning, online learning, intelligent teaching, integrated with related industries will accelerate the development of smart learning environment.

Through continuous tracking research on adult online learners in Shanghai, the research group compared the latest survey data with the data in 2018 and 2019 to create this portrait of online learners in post-epidemic period. The report has considerable reference value for the development of education, the improvement of teaching quality and the research on learning efficiency.
