• Yangtze River Delta Higher Continuing Education Alliance Established at Shanghai Open University

On December 17th, the establishment conference of the Yangtze River Delta Higher Continuing Education Alliance, initiated by the continuing education industry organizations and related universities was held at Shanghai Open University. More than 200 participants, including leaders from universities such as Shanghai Open University, Anhui Open University, Fudan University, Shanghai Second Polytechnic University, Jiangsu Open University, Zhejiang Open University, Anhui Normal University, and representatives from the educational administrative departments of Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and Anhui, attended the meeting. Jia Wei, President of Shanghai Open University, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.


Jia Wei pointed out in his speech that the establishment of the Yangtze River Delta Higher Continuing Education Alliance aims to promote the sharing of regional educational resources, complementary advantages, and collaborative innovation. It is an important measure to comply with the national strategy of integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and the high-quality development needs of regional higher continuing education. As the vice-chair institution, Shanghai Open University will actively share its experiences and achievements in AI-enabled online education, the construction of a credit bank, and the integration of industry and education. It will work closely with member institutions to promote breakthroughs in higher continuing education in the Yangtze River Delta region.

 

At the meeting, the leadership composition of the Yangtze River Delta Higher Continuing Education Alliance was officially announced. Zheng Yihui, vice president of Shanghai Open University, and representatives from one city and three provinces, jointly launched the establishment of the alliance and witnessed the alliance's signing of cooperation agreements. The meeting also released the Yangtze River Delta Industrial Continuing Education Needs Report, which proposed constructive development strategies and suggestions for the development status and trends of industrial continuing education in the Yangtze River Delta region.

 

Professor Huang Jian, Deputy Dean of the Talent Development Strategy Research Institute at East China Normal University, gave a report. Heads of continuing education colleges from Fudan University, Soochow University, Zhejiang University, and Hefei University of Technology exchanged opinions on how university continuing education can help achieve high-quality integrated development in the Yangtze River Delta region.


After the meeting, the representatives visited the G60 Science and Technology Innovation Corridor and Chint Group in Songjiang District, Shanghai, to gain a deeper understanding of the latest achievements and practical experiences in industry-education integration and technological innovation in the Yangtze River Delta region.

The establishment of the Yangtze River Delta Higher Continuing Education Alliance is not only a positive response to the requirements of educational power construction but also an important outcome of the implementation of the national strategy for the integration of the Yangtze River Delta. Shanghai Open University will provide strong talent support and intellectual support for promoting the high-quality development of higher continuing education and the integrated development of the modern industrial system in the Yangtze River Delta through the alliance platform.
